Alyssa Hicks
Alyssa's musical journey began at age 7, when she had her first piano lesson. It didn't take long for her to become hooked on music - practicing every moment she could, and constantly wanting to learn more!
Alyssa graduated with Bachelor of Music (voice) and Bachelor of Music Education degrees in 2015. She also holds a Level 9 Certificate in Piano with First Class Honours from The Royal Conservatory of Music. Alyssa taught her first private students in 2010, and has been teaching ever since. In 2020, she joined the Board of Directors for the NLRMTA (Newfoundland and Labrador Registered Music Teacher's Association), and currently holds the positions of Secretary and Registrar for the association. When she isn't teaching, Alyssa is also an active performer. She currently sings with Lady Cove Women's Choir, and is an alumnus of The Celtic Fiddlers. She also enjoys performing with her husband, Jon, as a duo called "Take Two" at local coffee shops, markets, and weddings (visit their website here). As an actress, Alyssa has had the opportunity to take the stage with several local theatre companies. Some of her favourite roles and shows to date include Sophie in A Call to Arms (Atlantic Light Theatre, 2019), Maggie in The Perfect Son (Second Light Productions, 2019), Andrina in The Little Mermaid (Theatre St. John’s, 2015), Jesus Christ Superstar (TaDa! Events, 2015/2017) and Sister Act (Atlantic Light Theatre, 2016). |
